Class E and flexible commercial use

Class E covers a broad range of commercial uses — retail, financial and professional services, offices, healthcare, and some food and drink — and allows movement between those uses without a further application in many cases. Converting a single large unit into several smaller Class E units, or changing from another use class into Class E, more often needs a full planning application addressing servicing, waste, cycle storage and shopfront design.

Working with the Local Planning Authority

Commercial schemes on busy shopping parades typically raise questions on servicing, refuse storage, cycle parking, noise and extraction, and fire strategy. We prepare the technical drawings and supporting statements to address these up front, and respond to validation queries directly with planning officers.
